Watch where the sun falls before choosing plants. A sheltered corner holds moisture longer; a windy railing dries quickly. Group pots with similar needs and leave enough room to reach them comfortably.
Look underneath a leaf. Check the soil with a finger. Remove a faded flower and notice what has changed since yesterday. A little regular attention is often more useful than a long weekend of work.
